At the World Taekwondo Junior Championships being held in Tashkent, the Uzbek national team secured its first gold medal. Yoshinbek Odilov, competing in the under 48 kg weight category, defeated Omani representative Dawud Al-Yusufi in the final with a score of 2:0.

The final match was fiercely contested, with Odilov winning the first round 5:1 and the second round 11:9. This victory marks the first gold medal for the Uzbek team at the tournament and represents a significant milestone in the country's sporting history.

The Uzbek team's medal tally now stands at two, as Alisher Pak previously won a silver medal in the over 78 kg weight category. The championships will continue until April 17, with Uzbek athletes aiming for further medals in the ongoing competitions.
