Under the chairmanship of President Shavkat Mirziyoyev, a video conference meeting was held with the participation of over 500 developers, builders, designers, architects, and urbanists. The meeting discussed the achievement of a 51% urbanization rate in the country and its positive impact on economic growth.

President Shavkat Mirziyoyev emphasized that a 1 percentage point increase in the urbanization rate leads to at least a 1% growth in the economy, boosting investments, business, startups, and labor productivity. This statement was made in the context of achievements in the construction sector, where over the past 9 years, the volume of construction work has increased from 30 trillion soums to 314 trillion soums, nearly 10,000 new construction enterprises have been established, and 3.5 million people are employed in construction and related industries.

However, the meeting also highlighted persistent problems in the construction sector. Entrepreneurs who have obtained land and credits face obstacles at the start of construction due to bureaucracy, corruption, and red tape, which prolongs the process for months or even years. Such situations reduce economic efficiency and create difficulties for investors.

To promote urbanization, the government allocates 200–250 billion soums annually from the budget. Governors have been instructed to complete the development of master plans for 6 cities and 44 towns, as well as master plans for 104 villages, and to begin developing urban planning documentation for another 50 settlements in collaboration with proactive businessmen.
