Residents of the Sergeli and Yangihayot districts in Tashkent are facing significant difficulties in using public transport. The main complaints from citizens are directed at bus routes No. 154 (“Bobur mahalla” — “Zangiota Infectious Diseases Hospital”) and No. 184 (“Food City” — “Obihayot Street”). The situation has worsened following the occupancy of the Sokin Makon residential complex, where approximately 1,000 families have become hostages to irregular bus services.
According to passenger complaints, intervals during peak hours reach 40-60 minutes, and small-sized Isuzu buses are still operating on these routes. Due to overcrowding, drivers often simply do not open doors at intermediate stops. This forces people with prepaid travel cards to spend additional money on taxis to reach the nearest “Chinor” metro station. Furthermore, transport services on these routes effectively cease after 8:00 PM.
The Tashkent city administration promptly responded to the criticism. The Main Transport Department of the capital studied the situation and confirmed the existence of problems on April 16 of this year. According to official data, schedule disruptions occurred due to technical malfunctions: one vehicle on each route failed to operate. The department assured that urgent measures are being taken to repair the rolling stock to restore a stable interval, which should be 20 minutes according to regulations.
City authorities also presented a long-term plan to resolve the transport crisis in this area. Considering the growing passenger flow from the Sokin Makon complex, a phased renewal of the fleet on these routes is planned for 2026. Through the purchase of new high-capacity buses, it is intended to completely replace the old Isuzu models and significantly reduce waiting times at stops. The city administration thanked residents for their active stance in helping to identify weaknesses in the infrastructure.
