President Shavkat Mirziyoyev held a meeting on the development of Tashkent's economy, declaring the current year the "Year of Accelerated Development of the Capital and Growth of Population Incomes." The main goal for this year is to achieve a 12% growth rate in Tashkent's economy, with each of the capital's 12 districts assigned an industrial specialization to facilitate this target.
The districts have been allocated the following sectors: Bektemir District — chemical industry and wholesale trade; Mirzo Ulugbek District — cable industry, science, education, and IT; Mirabad District — food industry, tourism, and public catering; Uchtepa District — jewelry products, household services, and retail trade; Chilanzar District — pharmaceuticals, trade, service sector, and sports; Shaykhantakhur District — furniture production and gastronomic tourism; Yunusabad District — paper industry and tourism; Yashnabad District — electrical engineering and transport-logistics sector; Yakkasaray District — light industry and financial services; Yangikhayot District — automotive industry and logistics; Almazar District — production of construction materials and education; Sergeli District — metallurgy, logistics, and auto service.
Over the past two weeks, meetings with entrepreneurs have been conducted, identifying over 1,300 problems and receiving 162 new proposals. To address these issues promptly, a separate Coordination Council is planned to be established. Additionally, the issuance of $500 million in eurobonds for the capital is envisaged.
In the future, a comprehensive analysis of Tashkent's economy is planned with the involvement of major international consulting companies. This initiative is seen as part of a broader program aimed at enhancing the capital's economic potential and increasing population incomes.
