Uzbekistan and the Czech Republic have set an ambitious target to increase bilateral trade to $1 billion and resume direct air links between their capitals. The agreements were reached during talks between President Shavkat Mirziyoyev and Czech Prime Minister Andrej Babiš.

Speaking at the Kuksaroy residence, Mirziyoyev hailed the visit as a breakthrough, opening a qualitatively new stage in multifaceted Uzbek-Czech relations. He noted that trade turnover had nearly doubled in recent years and that 37 joint ventures with Czech capital are successfully operating in Uzbekistan.

To achieve the goals, the sides agreed to prepare a technological cooperation program covering mechanical engineering, green energy, pharmaceuticals, and digitalization. To boost trade, Uzbekistan will open its first certification branch in the Czech Republic and build a modern Euro-6 standard laboratory.

The meeting concluded with an agreement to develop a roadmap for the timely implementation of all decisions made.
