The Inter-district Economic Court of Bukhara has issued a ruling on the illegal cutting of 154 valuable turanga trees in 2024, according to the regional Department of Ecology and Climate Change.
The violation was detected during inspection raids in 2024. It was found that the head of a legal entity cut down 154 turanga trees while carrying out excavation work in the Jondor canal area of Olot district.
The damage to nature was estimated at 1.302 billion soums. Subsequently, the Ecology Department filed a lawsuit with the Inter-district Economic Court of Bukhara.
The court fully granted the claim and ordered the defendant legal entity to pay the specified amount.
It was noted that ecological control raids continue across the regions. Earlier, in Bukhara city, the illegal cutting of 12 fir trees was discovered on the site of the former Telephone-Telegraph building. The violator was fined 10.3 million soums, and the damage to nature amounted to 95.6 million soums.
The amount of damage is calculated based on Resolution No. 464 of the Cabinet of Ministers dated November 22, 2022. According to the document, during the period of the moratorium on cutting valuable tree and shrub species not included in the state forest fund, the damage is calculated at double the rate.
It should be recalled that in Uzbekistan, since 2022, the moratorium on cutting valuable tree and shrub species not included in the state forest fund has been extended indefinitely.
According to the National Committee on Ecology and Climate Change, in 2025, 2,328 offenses related to illegal cutting of trees and shrubs were detected in Uzbekistan. The highest number of cases was recorded in Tashkent city, Bukhara region, and Karakalpakstan. These offenses caused damage to nature amounting to 13.3 billion soums.
