Uzbekistan has significantly strengthened its position in the Afghan market. In the first four months of this year, exports to the neighboring country reached $550 million, showing steady positive month-on-month growth.
This was announced by the head of the Chamber of Commerce and Industry (CCI) Davron Vakhabov. According to the data, exports stood at $111 million in January and rose to $170 million by April.
Nearly half of all exports — $268 million — were food products. Specifically, over four months, Uzbekistan supplied $38 million worth of vegetable oil, $3.5 million worth of eggs, and $5.7 million worth of live poultry (chickens).
The CCI head emphasized that the intensification of cooperation with Kabul is the result of direct instructions from the head of state. Thanks to the introduction of new financial instruments and mechanisms, as well as simplified logistics (delivery takes 3–4 days), the export potential in this direction is considered extremely high.
"If last year our total exports amounted to $1.8 billion, this year we can easily reach $4 billion," said Davron Vakhabov, urging domestic producers to more actively develop the ready-to-consume market.
For practical business support, the Chamber of Commerce and Industry is organizing a business mission. On May 16, a delegation of about 100 entrepreneurs will visit Afghan provinces including Kabul, Mazar-i-Sharif, Pul-e-Khumri, Baghlan, and Samangan. During the trip, the CCI plans to assist in finding partners and establishing direct sales of Uzbek products on the ground.
