President of Uzbekistan Shavkat Mirziyoyev visited Victory Park in Tashkent on May 8 and took part in a remembrance ceremony organized for May 9 – Day of Remembrance and Honor. This was reported by the press service of the head of state.

According to tradition, the president laid a wreath at the foot of the “Anthem of Courage” monument. “Today we express our special love and respect to the veterans of war and labor, all our elders who live among us in good health. This complex is a sacred place that glorifies the courage and heroism of our multinational people who made a worthy contribution to the great victory,” the head of state said.

The event was also attended by representatives of the Armed Forces of Uzbekistan, state and public organizations, mahalla activists and elders, who laid flowers at the foot of the monument.

Shavkat Mirziyoyev also visited the “Devotees of the Nation” alley in Victory Park, where he paid tribute to the memory of servicemen and law enforcement officers who died defending the country during the years of independence.

“Today we see conflicts and wars taking place in nearby regions. In such a difficult situation, life itself once again confirms that maintaining national unity and solidarity is the greatest strength and greatest wealth. Defending the Motherland is the most great and honorable work in the world. Deeply realizing this truth, we deserve all kinds of praise to our brave and courageous sons who have always remained faithful to the military oath,” the head of state said.
