As of May 8, 49 drivers in Uzbekistan have accumulated the maximum 12 penalty points and lost their driving privileges, according to Zoir Yuldashev, head of the press service of the Traffic Safety Department under the Ministry of Internal Affairs.
The highest number of violators was recorded in the capital Tashkent — 29 drivers. Among regions, Fergana region (8 cases) and Bukhara region (3 cases) followed. Two drivers each reached the limit in Tashkent and Andijan regions, and one each in Karakalpakstan, Samarkand, Namangan, Surkhandarya, and Khorezm regions.
In four regions — Navoi, Kashkadarya, Jizzakh, and Syrdarya — no such cases have been reported yet. Yuldashev noted that drivers who lost their licenses must undergo retraining at driving schools and retake the exam. Requirements have been tightened: now they must correctly answer 46 out of 50 questions, compared to the previous 18 out of 20.
All 49 cases have been submitted to court. Under the Code of Administrative Responsibility, drivers who accumulate 12 penalty points within a year lose their driving rights for at least six months. Earlier, Uzbekistan recorded its first case of a driver exceeding the limit, accumulating 12.5 points.
