Bexzot Rahmatullayevich Narmatov has been appointed as an advisor to the President of Uzbekistan on fuel and energy issues, according to presidential press secretary Sherzod Asadov.

Prior to his appointment, since February he served as head of the project office department for accelerating reforms in the oil and gas sector of the Presidential Administration.

Over the years, Narmatov has held positions such as Deputy Minister of Energy, head of the Geology, Oil and Gas Production Department of the Ministry of Energy, and head of the Andijanneft company. In August 2021, he was appointed chairman of the state company Uztransgaz.

In January 2023, the president dismissed several heads of energy companies, including the head of Uztransgaz, due to unsatisfactory provision of energy resources to the population.

Previously, this position was held by Alisher Sultanov. He was appointed advisor to the president on oil, gas, chemicals and energy in May 2023. In July 2025, Sultanov was removed from the post of advisor on energy security and appointed as the president's representative on energy security issues — a position equivalent to deputy advisor. Last December, he was also dismissed from this post.
