Uzbekistan is launching a new digital system for assessing the energy efficiency of buildings: residential and non-residential facilities will be automatically classified by energy efficiency level based on digital analysis.
According to a Cabinet of Ministers resolution, the preliminary assessment will be carried out through a special electronic platform without the need for on-site visits by specialists. These results are for informational purposes and serve as a basis for deciding whether a full energy audit is necessary.
Based on this data, an electronic energy passport is planned for each facility, which will allow tracking resource consumption and identifying potential savings in electricity and gas.
Subsidies are provided for industrial enterprises: the state will compensate up to 50% of energy audit costs (but not exceeding 100 million soums) if the audit results in energy savings of at least 10%.
The program's goal is ambitious: to save 4.3 billion kilowatt-hours of electricity and 2.8 billion cubic meters of gas by the end of 2026. Additionally, the program aims to fulfill national energy-saving targets — introducing "green" loans, upgrading lighting, and expanding the infrastructure of electric charging stations.
It is worth recalling that a new energy efficiency system will be introduced for small and medium-sized enterprises in Uzbekistan, along with a three-year program to reduce energy consumption. Currently, this sector uses about 5 billion cubic meters of gas and 20 billion kilowatt-hours of electricity annually.
