Uzbekistan has registered a new geographical indication — 'Gijduvan Ceramic Products', providing legal protection for the country's unique folk craft center.

The decision on state registration is linked to the unique pottery traditions of the Gijduvan district in Bukhara region, which have been formed over centuries. The local ceramic school is distinguished by its original production technology based on natural raw materials, as well as characteristic ornaments and color solutions.

Today, masters produce about 60 types of products and over 300 stable ornamental compositions passed down from generation to generation. Local clays, natural dyes, and traditional glazing techniques are used in production.

A special place is occupied by recognizable patterns — 'Mehrobi', 'Parragul', 'Madohil', 'Lundagul', 'Guli bodom', and 'Lolagul', which have become the hallmark of the Gijduvan school.

Registration as a geographical indication provides legal protection for the name, technology, and historical traditions, and also opens up opportunities for promoting the national brand at the international level.

The traditions are preserved by the Narzullayev dynasty, which has been developing the Gijduvan ceramic school for more than three centuries.
