Tashkent, Uzbekistan – Podrobno.uz. The Committee for the Development of Competition and Consumer Protection has uncovered violations in tenders conducted by three state agencies, with total procurement amounting to 23 billion soums (approximately $2 million).
According to the committee, the Youth Affairs Agency held six tenders worth 9.1 billion soums, the Innovation Development Agency organized six tenders totaling about 8 billion soums, and the Ministry of Preschool and School Education conducted ten competitive bids worth nearly 6.7 billion soums. In all cases, actions that restricted competition were identified.
A special commission initiated cases against the procuring organizations, issuing mandatory instructions to eliminate violations and prevent recurrence. Officials were held administratively liable, and materials were submitted to judicial authorities.
Earlier, committee specialists in Samarkand region prevented a cartel conspiracy in the gas motor fuel market. Eleven auto gas filling compressor stations in Payaryk district simultaneously raised prices for compressed gas, leading to financial penalties.
