In Uzbekistan's Kashkadarya region, two police inspectors have been found guilty of drug-related crimes and sentenced to prison terms. Kun.uz reviewed the court documents.

According to the indictment, 41-year-old B.T., a prevention inspector from the Kukdala district police department, participated in a counter-narcotics operation in the Kasbi district in 2016-2017. During the operation, he picked leaves from discovered cannabis plants and stored them at home for personal use and partial sale. On December 10, 2025, he gave 3.4 grams of marijuana to his acquaintance J.N., a senior prevention inspector from the Karshi district police department, via his wife.

During an operation by the Internal Security Department of the Ministry of Internal Affairs and the Kashkadarya Regional Police Department, 3.4 grams of marijuana were found in J.N.'s car. Additionally, 8.76 grams of marijuana were seized from B.T.'s residence.

In court, B.T. pleaded not guilty, claiming he had no intention to sell the marijuana and used it as tea to relieve headaches. He stated that he suffered a neck injury during a sambo competition in 2014, leading to chronic headaches. J.N. claimed he had picked up vitamins from B.T.'s home, not marijuana, and that he had purchased marijuana via a Telegram bot.

On April 22, 2026, the Mirishkor District Criminal Court found B.T. guilty under Article 273 Part 2 and Article 276 Part 1 of the Criminal Code, sentencing him to 3.5 years in prison. J.N. was found guilty under Article 276 Part 1 and sentenced to 1.5 years in prison. B.T. will serve his sentence in a general-regime colony, while J.N. will serve in a settlement colony.
