Law enforcement in Uzbekistan's Tashkent and Namangan regions has thwarted an attempt by a transnational criminal group to smuggle and distribute a large batch of narcotics.

A joint operation by the Ministry of Internal Affairs, the State Security Service, and customs officials prevented the entry of dangerous substances into the country via neighboring states.

The operation took place in the Kibray district of Tashkent region. In a specially concealed cache on a field adjacent to a mahalla, officers discovered over 20 kilograms of narcotics, including hashish and synthetic drugs.

Two individuals who arrived by car were detained at the scene. According to investigators, they are linked to a transnational criminal network involved in drug trafficking.

It was also established that part of the criminal network operated from abroad. During additional operations, another batch of about 10 kilograms of hashish and synthetics was seized.

The operation continued in Namangan region, where another member of the group was arrested while retrieving five kilograms of hashish from a hideout.

A criminal case has been initiated, and an investigation is underway.

Authorities emphasize that drug trafficking poses a serious threat to society, destroying lives and undermining public health. Citizens are urged to remain vigilant and report any information related to the distribution of prohibited substances.

Earlier, in Fergana region, security forces intercepted a major smuggling channel, seizing about 20 kilograms of opium and hashish hidden inside car tires.
