Officers from the State Security Service, together with customs authorities, conducted special operations in the Fergana and Namangan regions, uncovering and seizing tens of thousands of packages of medicines that were illegally imported and stored for sale. The total value of the confiscated drugs exceeded 2.2 billion soums.

In Fergana, a 29-year-old citizen was detained while unloading medicines from a Gazelle truck at his home. The inspection revealed that he was storing 45,900 units of 38 types of drugs worth 778 million soums. Additionally, a further 16,500 units of 25 types of medicines worth 468 million soums were found stored in violation of regulations.

A similar case was uncovered in Namangan. During a joint operation involving the State Security Service, internal affairs bodies, customs, and the Pharmaceutical Products Safety Center, two citizens were found to be storing a large batch of illegally imported medicines for subsequent sale. Searches at three locations led to the seizure of over 32,500 packages of 453 types of medicines worth more than 1 billion soums.

Expert examinations have been ordered for both cases, and investigative actions are ongoing. Law enforcement authorities urge citizens to report such offenses via the short number 1520, with confidentiality guaranteed.

Earlier, a large underground workshop producing medicines and dietary supplements of dubious quality was shut down in Andijan, with over half a million units of products worth about 5 billion soums seized.
