The Tashkent City Internal Affairs Department has reported a crackdown on illegal resellers at the automobile and spare parts market in the Sergeli district.

According to the department, individuals known as "saygak" or resellers promise customers to install all car parts in one place, cheaply and quickly, but then sell the goods at two to three times the normal price.

"The activities of such illegal intermediaries lead to an increase in the sale of low-quality products, artificial price hikes, growing consumer complaints, and a decline in buyer trust in the market," the statement said.

Sellers reported that resellers would mark up items worth 100,000 soums to 1-2 million soums. After being cheated, customers would never return to the Sergeli car market.

"For example, 'clips' or 'bushings' that cost 10,000-15,000 soums in our market were sold by them for 50,000-60,000 soums. Our customers were very dissatisfied. Trust in the market was lost, and everyone switched to auto dealerships," another seller said.

To prevent such violations, the Tashkent police conducted rapid preventive operations at the used vehicle and spare parts market in Sergeli.

Specifically, 100 individuals engaged in illegal intermediary activities were identified, taken to the district department, and documented. Of these, 50 received preventive talks, and 30 were given administrative detention and fines.

"'Saygaks' sell a 400,000 soum item for 800,000 soums. When you enter, they promise to arrange everything, then give you a bill for five or six different items at inflated prices," one reseller admitted.

"I used to work as a 'saygak' at the car market; it was illegal. We realized our mistake. They explained everything to us. I deeply regret it. I promise to work legally from now on. My advice to others: don't do this, it leads to no good," another violator stated.

According to the police, about 10 criminal cases related to illegal activities have been detected in the market area during 2025 and the past period of 2026.

In particular, in January 2026, two individuals were sentenced for deceiving citizens by promising to sell cheap cars and then embezzling their money.

After the operations, buyers and entrepreneurs reported a positive change in the market situation.

"Customer trust is returning. Now everything is open and transparent. Clients can enter freely. It's much better now. Thank you all for maintaining order in our market," one entrepreneur said.

The internal affairs bodies recommend that citizens purchase goods and services only through official and reliable sales points.
