Amin Tojiyev Khamroyevich, former Chairman of the Council of Ministers of Karakalpakstan, a statesman, public figure, and labor veteran, passed away on June 4 at the age of 79. President Shavkat Mirziyoyev expressed his condolences on the occasion.
Tojiyev was born on April 12, 1947, in the Turtkul district. After graduating from high school, he studied at the Tashkent Institute of Engineers of Irrigation and Mechanization of Agriculture (now the National Research University), earning a degree in mechanical engineering.
He began his career in 1968 as a safety engineer at the Al-Khorezmi collective farm in the Turtkul district. Subsequently, he held leadership positions in the Turtkul, Ellikkala, and Amudarya districts.
Tojiyev served in key roles including Chairman of the Council of Ministers of the Republic of Karakalpakstan, Minister of Agriculture, Head of the Forestry Department, and First Deputy Chairman of the State Agro-Industrial Committee of Uzbekistan.
According to the president's condolence message, over more than 50 years of work, Tojiyev accomplished a great deal for the socio-economic development of the Aral Sea region under difficult conditions, creating infrastructure networks and improving the living standards of the population. In particular, he was instrumental in building the "Tuyamuyun — Nukus — Takhtakupyr" irrigation network and many social and cultural facilities to address water scarcity.
Tojiyev was awarded the "El-yurt hurmati", "Do‘stlik", and "Mehnat shuhrati" orders, as well as the honorary title "Honored Mechanizer of the Republic of Karakalpakstan".
