The body of a 24-year-old man who drowned in the Chodaksay River in the Pap district of Namangan region has been found after more than a week of search and rescue operations, the regional emergency department reported.
According to the Ministry of Emergency Situations, the victim, born in 2002, entered the water on May 28 in a prohibited swimming zone of the Chodaksay River near the 'Shaykhon' mahalla recreation area and drowned.
Search and rescue efforts were launched under the leadership of Colonel Akmaljon Urinboev, first deputy head of the regional emergency department. Firefighters-rescuers searched the water surface, while divers from the rescue team searched underwater.
On June 1, the Prosecutor General's Office reported that the Pap district prosecutor's office was conducting a pre-investigation check. On June 4, the man's body was found in the river and handed over to relevant authorities.
The Ministry of Emergency Situations warns citizens not to enter water in prohibited and dangerous areas. Observing safety rules at water bodies is one of the most important factors for preserving life and health.
