According to the State Statistics Committee, annual inflation in Uzbekistan fell to 5.5% in May 2026, down from 8.7% a year earlier. Monthly price growth was 0.2%. The slowdown is attributed to the fading of a high base effect from energy prices.
Among key food items, boneless beef rose 3.6%, beef with bone 2.9%, mutton 2.9%, and sugar 1.5%. Rice and groats fell 1.6%, eggs 0.1%, and poultry meat 1.5-1.6%.
Seasonal factors drove fruit and vegetable prices: cucumbers dropped 39.5%, tomatoes 34.7%, eggplants 23.6%. Lemons rose 19%, apples 2.6%.
Gasoline prices increased 0.6%, while propane fell 1.9%. Taxi fares rose 1%, intercity buses 1%, and airfares dropped 1.3%.
Regionally, the highest inflation was in Kashkadarya region (5.8%), the lowest in Fergana region (5.0%).
