The Consulate General of Uzbekistan in New York has issued a reminder to compatriots urging strict compliance with US legislation and respect for local norms of behavior.

The diplomatic mission noted that media and social networks increasingly report offenses involving individuals from Uzbekistan. Such cases, the consulate stressed, entail personal responsibility and could negatively affect the image of the entire Uzbek community, despite the fact that most of its representatives work lawfully, study, develop businesses, and worthily represent the country abroad.

Particular attention to citizens' behavior increases during major international events and sports competitions, when media interest in Uzbekistan intensifies.

The consulate stated its readiness to provide necessary legal assistance but called on citizens to act responsibly and avoid actions that could damage the country's reputation.

Earlier, Uzbek citizens appeared in court in New York accused of a series of cargo thefts totaling $4.5 million.

Additionally, a group of individuals from Uzbekistan was at the center of a police operation in Cincinnati, Ohio. They were detained on charges of illegal street racing and trespassing at the Paycor Stadium.
