President Shavkat Mirziyoyev reviewed a presentation on ensuring employment of graduates from the country's higher education institutions, the presidential press service reported.
According to the presentation, 320,000 students are expected to graduate from Uzbekistan's universities in 2026. As higher education coverage expands, the number of young specialists entering the labor market is also increasing.
In this regard, a number of proposals were considered to provide graduates with jobs, direct them to vacancies, support entrepreneurial initiatives, and strengthen the activities of career centers.
In particular, it was proposed to introduce the subject 'Fundamentals of Entrepreneurship' in all universities starting from the 2026/2027 academic year. The subject is expected to help students develop entrepreneurial skills, learn the basics of business, and receive information about available opportunities.
Additionally, measures were discussed to support student startup projects, attract youth to spin-off enterprises, open branches of departments at industry enterprises, and expand the practice of defending graduation theses at employer organizations.
