The Tashkent Regional Council of People's Deputies has approved a decision to reduce speed limits on certain sections of the A-373 international highway, which runs through the Tashkent region. The decision, dated June 8, aims to prevent road accidents and enhance traffic safety.
According to the decision, new speed restrictions will be introduced on sections between kilometers 103 and 131 of the A-373 highway in the Akhangaran district, specifically on three stretches located outside populated areas. The current speed limit of 100 km/h will be reduced.
For vehicles of categories M1, M2, and N1 (passenger cars, minibuses with up to 8 passengers, and trucks weighing up to 3.5 tons), the maximum speed will be set at 80 km/h. For vehicles of categories N2 and N3 (trucks weighing over 3.5 tons, including heavy trucks), the speed limit will be reduced to 50 km/h.
The new restrictions apply to the following segments: 103-104 km, 105-106 km, 108-109 km, and 109-131 km. Previously, the permitted speed on these sections was 100 km/h.
The initiative to lower the speed limit was developed based on a proposal from the regional special commission for road safety. The draft was published for public discussion on the regulation.gov.uz portal, with the discussion period ending on May 27.
Under the decision, the specialized road operation enterprise "Kamchikavtoyol" must install road signs indicating the new speed limits of 80 km/h and 50 km/h within ten days.
The Tashkent Regional Council emphasized that the purpose of changing the speed limits is to ensure citizen safety and reduce the number of road traffic accidents.
In February, the speed was reduced to 80 km/h on six sections of the D012 Bektemir-Chirchik-Gazalkent-Charbog road outside populated areas in the Tashkent region. Additionally, in May, the permitted speed on 37 road sections in the Tashkent region outside populated areas was reduced from 100 km/h to 80 km/h.
According to traffic rules, vehicles are allowed to travel at speeds not exceeding 60 km/h in the cities of Nukus, Tashkent, regional and district centers, as well as in other cities, and not exceeding 100 km/h outside populated areas. On some sections of roads in Uzbekistan's regions, the permitted speed is 110 km/h.
