A criminal case has been opened against a responsible employee of the Gulistan city administration in the Syrdarya region, according to the State Security Service.
The official allegedly promised a citizen wishing to start a business to help obtain 2 sotiks (0.2 hectares) of land located on Uzbekistan Street in the city, which was in the state reserve, for setting up a grocery store through his acquaintances in office.
For this, he demanded $50,000. Initially, the official valued the citizen's Lacetti car at $12,000 as part of the bribe and took possession of it by issuing a power of attorney for the right to drive.
During an operational operation, the official was caught red-handed while receiving $8,000 as part of the demanded bribe.
Currently, a criminal case has been initiated, and a preventive measure of detention has been applied. Investigative actions are underway.
