Uzbekistan national team head coach Fabio Cannavaro said at a press conference after the match against Colombia at the World Cup that he is proud of his players. He called the game historic and noted that playing in front of a packed stadium is difficult but provides extra motivation.

“I am proud of my footballers. They played well. Today was a tough game. Playing in such a stadium, in front of fans, is not easy. But it can give more motivation,” the Uzbek coach said.

Cannavaro stated that in the second half, the team managed to change the game and take control thanks to active play on the left flank. He acknowledged mistakes but promised to work on them.

Cannavaro also noted that a match against opponents like Colombia requires special dedication, especially in pressing without the ball. The coach emphasized that the main goal of the trip is to represent Uzbekistan worthily on the world stage.

Uzbekistan began its historic World Cup campaign with a match against Colombia. The Group K fixture took place at the Azteca Stadium in Mexico City and ended 1-3 in favor of Colombia. The match drew a sell-out crowd of 80,824 spectators.
