On the sidelines of the Tashkent International Investment Forum, an agreement was signed between the suburban transport operator Shahar Atrofida Yo‘lovchi Tashish, part of O‘zbekiston temir yo‘llari, and Czech company Škoda Transportation for the supply of ten modern electric trains.

The document formalized previous agreements on developing transport infrastructure and modernizing rolling stock in Uzbekistan.

The project will allow the renewal of the train fleet through the introduction of modern European solutions. It is expected to improve safety, energy efficiency, and passenger comfort, bringing them closer to international standards. The new electric trains will be equipped with modern control systems and air conditioning, ensuring comfortable travel for residents and foreign guests.

Special attention is given to establishing a joint venture in Uzbekistan for the maintenance of the new rolling stock. This will ensure fast service for trains within the country, create new jobs, and stimulate further development of the national railway industry.

Earlier it was reported that the first ten modern Škoda Group electric trains will arrive in Uzbekistan in 2027.
