The number of hotels, hostels, and accommodation facilities in Uzbekistan has grown nearly ninefold over recent years, surpassing 7,000 properties, a correspondent from Podrobno.uz reported from the fifth International Investment Forum in Tashkent.
The growth of the hotel market is attributed to an increase in tourist flow, infrastructure expansion, and interest from international investors in the sector.
Currently, about 30 international hotel brands operate in the country, including Hilton, Marriott, InterContinental, Radisson, Holiday Inn, and others.
The forum also noted that Uzbekistan is transitioning from individual tourism initiatives to systemic investment projects. This involves not only hotels but also resort areas, tourism complexes, services, and urban environments.
Chairman of the Tourism Committee Abdulaziz Akkulov stated that investors in tourism can expect tax incentives, subsidies, preferential financing, and public-private partnership mechanisms. According to him, this should help Uzbekistan strengthen its position as one of the leading tourism centers in the region.
Earlier, it was reported that nearly one trillion soums would be allocated for the development of Uzbekistan's tourism infrastructure. The funds will be used for roads, utility networks, sanitary zones, tourist facilities, and regional promotion.
