Law enforcement officers in Uzbekistan's Kashkadarya region have detained a judge's assistant while receiving a $2,500 bribe. According to the investigation, he demanded money from an employee of the Bureau of Compulsory Enforcement (BCE), claiming he had helped him get a job through his connections.
The victim had been working in a district branch of the BCE since May of this year. The judge's assistant allegedly asserted that the employee owed his position to his assistance and demanded $2,500 as a "thank you." He also promised to arrange a transfer to a more convenient district office in the future.
During an operation conducted by the State Security Service and the Department for Combating Economic Crimes, the judge's assistant was caught red-handed in his office while receiving the agreed sum.
A criminal case has been opened against the suspect, and investigative actions are underway.
Earlier, in the Surkhandarya region, a man was detained for promising to arrange a job in the Department for Combating Economic Crimes for $4,000.
