In May, the perceived inflation rate among Uzbekistan's population decreased by 0.8 percentage points to 10.3%, according to a Central Bank survey review.

Regionally, the highest perceived inflation was recorded in Fergana region at 12.2%, while the lowest was in Navoi region at 7.9%.

Among different demographic groups, pensioners reported the highest perceived inflation at 13%, while students reported the lowest at 8.9%.

By income level, those earning over 4 million soums experienced inflation above the national average. In the group with incomes over 30 million soums, perceived inflation fell to 13.5%, and for those earning 20-30 million soums, it dropped to 12.4% (compared to 14.7% and 14.1% in April, respectively).

Respondents with incomes between 7-20 million soums saw a slight increase in perceived inflation compared to the previous month, while those earning up to 7 million soums reported a decrease. The lowest income group (up to 2 million soums) continues to experience relatively high inflation.

According to respondents, most basic goods and services became cheaper in May. The share of those reporting higher prices for meat and dairy products decreased from 56% to 54%. Medical services, medicines, construction materials, cafe and restaurant services, and vegetable oil also became cheaper.

However, the most noticeable price increases for the population were for gasoline and fuel, sugar, and confectionery products.
