Uzbekistan national team defender Abdulkodir Khusanov, 22, apologized to a television cameraman after colliding with him during a match against Colombia.
The incident occurred in the first half of Thursday's Group K match. In an episode near the sideline, Khusanov attempted to challenge Colombia striker Luis Diaz and crashed into the cameraman working at the edge of the field. The collision resulted in a yellow card for Khusanov.
The injured cameraman received medical attention and was taken to hospital. Later, representatives of the Uzbekistan team visited him and presented him with a jersey signed by the player with the message "I am sorry." Khusanov also wished the cameraman a speedy recovery, the Uzbekistan Football Association press service reported.
Uzbekistan lost 1-3 to Colombia in their World Cup debut.
The team's next match is on June 23 against Portugal, kicking off at 22:00 Tashkent time.
