Uzbekistan's law enforcement has uncovered a series of fraud cases linked to promises of employment in South Korea, involving former officials and private individuals.

The former head of the Fergana regional branch of the Migration Agency, identified as B.Kh., allegedly defrauded eight citizens out of $90,000 by promising to secure successful exam results and subsequent jobs in South Korea.

In the Yangikurgan district of Namangan region, two individuals allegedly collected $34,200 and 79.3 million soums from 22 citizens for similar promises.

In Jizzakh region, a previously convicted individual, I.A., allegedly gained the trust of six citizens and demanded $32,200 for job placement.

In Gulistan, a man identified as Kh.Kh. received $19,000 for promising to send six citizens to work abroad. In Samarkand, Z.M. was paid $12,500 for arranging a job for a local resident.

In Fergana district, A.K. allegedly took $10,000, claiming he could send a resident to South Korea through contacts at the Migration Agency. In Jizzakh, R.A. received $7,000 for a similar promise.

In Gijduvan district, previously convicted B.I. allegedly took $5,600, claiming he could send citizen L.N. to study and work in South Korea through high-ranking acquaintances. In Farish district, I.Kh. received $4,000 for promising N.E. a job in South Korea.

Criminal cases have been opened on all counts, and investigations are underway.
