The Tashkent Traffic Management Center has announced the installation of delineators — physical separation elements — on dedicated bus lanes of category “A”. The move aims to improve public transport efficiency in the Uzbek capital.

The first section, from Furkat Street near Magic City to Islam Karimov Street around the Palace of International Forums, has been marked with special lines and fitted with delineators. These barriers are designed to prevent other vehicles from entering the bus lane, reducing illegal encroachments.

According to the center, delineators minimize chaotic lane changes and clearly indicate the start of the bus priority zone to drivers. This is expected to increase bus speed, reduce delays during peak hours, and stabilize schedules.

International experience from the US, Spain, UK, Singapore, Australia, and Baku shows that dedicated bus lanes significantly improve public transport performance. Tashkent is adopting similar measures.

By the end of this year, category “A” lanes are planned for over 30 streets in Tashkent. Delineators and other solutions will be gradually introduced on these routes.

Earlier, the Traffic Management Center announced that by 2030, the total length of priority bus lanes in Tashkent will exceed 400 km, including 57.5 km of BRT lanes and 347 km of category “A” lanes. This year, BRT lanes will appear on Shakhrisabz, Mirzo Ulugbek, Amir Temur, and Yangi Sergeli streets.

Additionally, the city’s bus fleet will be expanded by 240 vehicles this year, with plans to purchase another 800 buses between 2027 and 2030, bringing the total to over 3,160.
