The Cabinet of Ministers of Uzbekistan has temporarily suspended the operations of 464 gas stations across the country, according to a resolution that came into force on June 22.

The decision follows a comprehensive inventory of existing facilities aimed at preventing accidents and emergencies at gas stations and gas filling points, ensuring compliance with safety requirements, and increasing the responsibility of state bodies authorized in licensing.

Inspections were conducted at 6,196 facilities, including gas stations, points for selling liquefied and compressed gas and petroleum products, as well as stations and points for filling household gas cylinders.

The inventory revealed a total of 46,737 violations and deficiencies, including: 2,218 violations in construction; 7,949 violations of fire safety requirements; 25,341 violations in industrial and technical safety; 3,354 violations in technical regulation; and 7,875 violations related to ensuring technological processes.

During the inspections, 7,166 violations were eliminated on the spot. The operation of 464 gas stations was temporarily suspended.

Additionally, from September 1, 2026, to January 1, 2030, the use of equipment operating under excess pressure at all types of gas stations and gas filling facilities will be restricted if its established service life has expired or if its production date cannot be determined.

By September 2026, a register of gas stations and gas filling facilities that pose a threat to life and health or do not meet public, industrial, and fire safety requirements, environmental protection standards, as well as urban planning norms and rules, including protected zone requirements, is planned to be compiled. Measures will be developed for the phased relocation of such facilities to safe zones.
