Law enforcement officers in Uzbekistan's Fergana region have thwarted an attempt to send an 18-year-old girl to Turkey for sexual exploitation, the authorities reported. The operation was carried out by units combating organized crime and human trafficking.
The criminal scheme is allegedly orchestrated by a woman who previously lived in the Kuva district and is currently in Denizli, Turkey. Together with an accomplice, she reportedly recruited young women by promising them well-paid jobs abroad.
The victim, a resident of Fergana region, was allegedly lured with promises of quick and substantial earnings, leading her to agree to the trip.
However, the suspects failed to execute their plan. During a police operation, the attempt to transport the girl was halted, and the suspects were detained.
A criminal case has been opened against the suspects on charges of human trafficking. The investigation is ongoing.
Earlier, a woman was detained at Tashkent International Airport for attempting to illegally send a compatriot to the UAE for sexual exploitation.
