The number of electric vehicles in Uzbekistan continues to grow. According to the National Statistics Committee, as of April 1 of this year, 109,200 electric cars were registered in the country, with over 70% of them concentrated in Tashkent.

The capital remains the absolute leader in eco-friendly transport, with 79,851 electric vehicles. The Tashkent region follows with 8,194, and the Samarkand region with 4,525 registered electric cars.

Other regions show significantly lower numbers. The Khorezm region has just over 3,000 electric vehicles, Kashkadarya 2,611, Fergana 2,231, Navoi 1,756, Bukhara 1,685, Andijan 1,477, and Namangan 1,156.

In Karakalpakstan, the number of electric cars exceeded 1,000, while in Syrdarya there are 799, in Jizzakh 517, and the lowest figure is in Surkhandarya with 315 units.

Earlier, it was reported that owners of electric vehicles in Uzbekistan are planned to receive compensation for part of their charging costs from the budget. The state intends to refund the difference if the cost per kilowatt-hour at a station exceeds 300 soums.
