The share of renewable energy in Uzbekistan's power system continues to grow steadily, leading to a significant reduction in natural gas consumption. According to data as of 3:00 PM on June 24, 2026, electricity consumption in the country reached 11,365 MW, while generation totaled 11,728 MW.
Renewables accounted for 5,310 MW, an increase of 1,585 MW or 42.6% compared to the same period last year. The rise in renewable generation helped substantially reduce the load on thermal power plants (TPPs). Output from TPPs fell from 7,243 MW to 6,293 MW, and natural gas consumption at thermal stations dropped by 293,000 cubic meters to 1,272,000 cubic meters.
As a result, the share of renewables in the overall generation mix jumped from 33.6% to 45.3% compared to data from June 24, 2025. Large-scale reforms in the energy sector, major investments in solar power, and modern energy storage systems are already yielding tangible results. Today, green energy not only meets the country's growing demand but also saves a vital strategic resource, strengthening Uzbekistan's energy security.
