Shavkat Mirziyoyev congratulated media representatives on the Day of Press and Mass Media Workers. The congratulatory message was published by the presidential press service.

The head of state stated that he considers journalists as his “constant associates and devoted friends.” The message notes that this year the holiday coincides with the 120th anniversary of the newspaper “Taraqqiy,” founded by Jadids—the founders of the national press—and the 100th anniversary of the first radio broadcast in Uzbekistan.

“We consider free and responsible, people-oriented journalism as one of the necessary conditions for the development of society and the state. In this regard, new measures will be implemented aimed at further expanding opportunities for media workers, strengthening the protection of their rights and interests, improving professional skills and qualifications, including ensuring social protection, stimulating labor, strengthening health, and improving living conditions,” the president said.

According to him, currently 67% of nearly 2,700 media outlets in the country, over 90% of publishing entities, and 83% of printing enterprises belong to the non-state sector.

The president also emphasized that in the context of a sharp increase in information flow and the widespread use of deepfake technologies, the ability to distinguish reliable sources has become an important skill. To this end, a modern media education system covering 10,000 young people has been established in a short time.

Mirziyoyev announced the implementation of new measures to further expand opportunities for journalists, protect their rights and interests, improve qualifications, and strengthen social protection.

“As the head of state, I am always ready to provide all support and assistance so that our national media, serving as a strong bridge between the state and society, become a powerful spiritual force that unites our people on the basis of common interests and leads our compatriots, especially young people, towards noble goals,” said Shavkat Mirziyoyev.

In conclusion, the president wished media workers good health, family happiness, and success in their work.
