Sebastien Desabre, head coach of the DR Congo national team, has shared his thoughts ahead of the third group stage match of the World Cup against Uzbekistan.
The specialist noted that his team played two difficult matches against Portugal and Colombia, but still retains a chance to advance from the group. "We played against two strong teams — Portugal and Colombia. After two matches we have one point, and now everything is clear to us. The third match will be decisive. To advance from the group, we need to win. Of course, we will have to take risks for that," Desabre said.
The DR Congo head coach also commented on the Uzbekistan national team. According to him, Fabio Cannavaro's team deservedly qualified for the World Cup and has a clear playing structure. "Tomorrow we will play against a very well-organized Uzbekistan team. This team did not get a World Cup berth by chance. It will be a difficult match, and we need to find the key to victory ourselves," the specialist stated.
Desabre emphasized that his players must show their maximum potential in the upcoming match. "Like Uzbekistan, we are not among the highest-rated teams of this World Cup. Therefore, to play decently at this level, we need to use our physical, tactical and technical qualities 100 percent. We have attacking potential and players who have scored regularly throughout their careers. Tomorrow they must have their say," the coach noted.
Desabre also said that the match against Uzbekistan has special significance for his team. "Tomorrow we have our final. We are already used to such matches where everything is decided in one game. Our path has always been difficult, but we have found a way out of tough situations more than once. I hope tomorrow will be the same, and the Congolese dream will continue," the head coach said.
In conclusion, Desabre noted that the DR Congo team knows what it needs to do in the upcoming match. "We want to win and understand that we will have to take risks for that. We calmly do our job and knew from the start of the tournament what we needed to do. I hope tomorrow's match will be successful for us," the head coach concluded.
Reminder: The Uzbekistan vs DR Congo match will take place on June 28 in Atlanta and will start at 04:30 Tashkent time.
