Regular direct flights between Tashkent and the Jordanian capital Amman will be launched starting June 30. In connection with this, a presentation dedicated to Uzbekistan's tourism potential was held in Jordan, reports the Dunyo news agency.
The event was attended by representatives of Jordan's tourism sector, leading tour operators, hotel business leaders, and officials from Royal Jordanian Airlines.
During the presentation, participants were informed about Uzbekistan's historical and cultural heritage, architectural monuments included in the UNESCO World Heritage List, and tourist routes through historical cities such as Samarkand, Bukhara, Khiva, and Shakhrisabz.
Guests were also introduced to modern opportunities for developing ecological, gastronomic, medical, and business tourism in the country.
Special attention was paid to Uzbekistan's pilgrimage tourism potential. The sides exchanged information about the legacy of famous Islamic scholars and thinkers, holy sites, and conditions created for foreign pilgrims.
It was reported that the new air route is expected to elevate tourism, business, and humanitarian ties between Uzbekistan and Jordan to a new level, as well as increase mutual tourist flows.
The first regular flight of Royal Jordanian Airlines on this route is scheduled for June 30. According to the schedule, flight RJ196 will depart from Amman International Airport at 22:50 local time and land at Tashkent International Airport the next day at 05:25.
It is noted that the new air link between the two capitals will reduce distance and travel time, creating additional opportunities for expanding cooperation in tourism, trade, investment, and cultural-humanitarian spheres.
Recall that in late August 2025, negotiations between the President of Uzbekistan and the King of the Hashemite Kingdom of Jordan took place in Samarkand. They agreed to expand cooperation in the chemical and textile industries, smart agriculture, geology, healthcare and pharmaceuticals, tourism, and other sectors.
Also on August 26 in Samarkand, the leaders of Uzbekistan and Jordan signed an agreement on the abolition of visa requirements. The agreement entered into force 30 days after signing — on September 25. Under it, Uzbek citizens can stay in Jordan without a visa for up to 30 days.
At that time, the sides also signed an agreement on cooperation in tourism and a protocol amending the intergovernmental agreement on air services. In particular, it was planned to launch flights on the Tashkent-Amman route.
