Uzbekistan's Ministry of Energy announced at 3:56 AM on June 29 that electricity supply has been fully restored to all consumers affected by an outage caused by a malfunction at the 'Yuksak' substation in Tashkent.
The emergency occurred at 8:45 PM on June 28 at the 'Yuksak' substation in the Yakkasaroy district of Tashkent. Preliminary investigations indicate a technical fault in the 110 kV network.
As a result, two gas turbine units at the Tashkent thermal power plant with a total capacity of 60 MW were shut down. Power supply was disrupted to 55,000 consumers in the Yakkasaroy, Chilanzar, Mirabad, and Uchtepa districts of Tashkent, as well as the Zangiata district of the Tashkent region, including some small industrial enterprises.
This accounts for approximately 6.2% of the total 889,200 subscribers in Tashkent (of which 844,900 are households and 44,300 are legal entities). The share is approximate as the Ministry's data also includes consumers from the Zangiata district.
Restoration work was carried out in stages. At 9:50 PM, power was restored to consumers in Yakkasaroy, Chilanzar, and Uchtepa districts (90 MW load). At 12:08 AM on June 29, consumers in Mirabad district (50 MW) were reconnected. At 12:09 AM, an additional 8 MW load was restored in Yakkasaroy and Chilanzar. At 12:25 AM, power was fully restored in Chilanzar and Zangiata districts (55 MW).
