Tashkent, Uzbekistan – Podrobno.uz. The State Security Service, together with the Department for Combating Economic Crimes, has cracked down on corruption offenses in the Samarkand and Kashkadarya regions.
In the first case, an official from the Urguttumangaz gas supply department colluded with a former employee of the same organization. They promised to prepare project documentation and obtain technical permits for installing new gas distribution equipment at a local LLC's production workshop. For their services, they demanded $2,000. During an operational operation, the suspects were caught red-handed while receiving the specified amount.
Another corruption case was uncovered in the Kashkadarya region. The head of a district department of the Cadastre Agency had previously received $11,600 from a citizen. In exchange, the official promised to process cadastral documents in another person's name and help purchase 50 sotiks of irrigated land allocated for greenhouse construction. The official failed to fulfill the promise and was detained while returning part of the money—49.7 million soums. During the pre-investigation check, he also returned the remaining 89.5 million soums to the victim.
Criminal cases have been initiated in both instances, and investigative actions are underway.
