Gulchehra Jamilova was born in 1946 in Tashkent. She studied at the Uzbek Choreographic School and graduated from the Tashkent State Institute of Theater and Fine Arts in 1968.
The actress began her career as a dancer in the state folk dance ensemble 'Bahor'. In 1987, she started working at the Hamza Uzbek State Academic Drama Theater, and from 1987 to 1991, she worked at the Uzbek State Drama Theater.
Her first roles were in the plays 'The Two Gentlemen of Verona' and 'Bloody Mirage'. Later, she portrayed various characters in productions such as 'Unintentionally Stepped on a Thorn', 'Mirzo Ulugbek', 'Abu Rayhan Beruni', 'The Lost Ring', 'The Rich Man and the Servant', 'Othello', 'Lament', and 'Sahibkiran'.
In cinema, she first appeared in the film 'Shohsanam and Gharib'. In 1965, she starred in Shukhrat Abbasov's film 'The Sun in Your Heart', and in 1969, in Yoldosh Azamov's film 'Bygone Days'. In 1984, she appeared in the film 'Legend of Love', as well as in the series 'The Potter and the Jug', 'Victims of Passion', 'Whirlpool', 'What Goes Around Comes Around', and 'Shaytanat'.
