Uzbekistan has expanded support measures for the leather and footwear industry. Producers will be able to receive subsidies for finished products, compensation for part of their costs, and advantages in public procurement.

The Light Industry Fund will provide support to enterprises in the sector from July 1, 2026 to December 31, 2028. Finished leather producers will receive 350 soums for each square decimeter of sold products.

Companies producing footwear and leather goods can receive 1 million soums for each new model introduced into production, but not more than 50 million soums per year per enterprise.

The state will also compensate half the cost of imported shoe lasts — up to $10,000 per year for purchases from EU countries and up to $5,000 for imports from other countries.

Reimbursement of half the costs for chemicals and reagents used for water treatment at enterprises is also provided.

From September 1, 2026, companies will be able to receive a price preference of up to 15% and additional points in public procurement. The advantage will depend on the share of local raw materials, the number of jobs created, and the presence of a registered brand. Customers, in turn, are required to provide information about the certificate of conformity when purchasing special footwear through the electronic system.

Earlier it was reported that in the first quarter of 2026, the production volume of the leather and footwear industry increased by 25%, reaching 962 billion soums. By the end of the year, this figure is planned to reach 5.4 trillion soums, and by 2030 — 12 trillion soums, with the creation of 12,000 new jobs.
