President of Uzbekistan Shavkat Mirziyoyev and Prime Minister of Georgia Irakli Kobakhidze attended the grand opening ceremony of a monument to the poet and thinker Alisher Navoi in Tbilisi.

The unveiling of the Alisher Navoi monument in Tbilisi marks another significant milestone in the history of Uzbek-Georgian cultural ties. For centuries, trade routes, mutual respect, and interest in each other's rich heritage have united the two peoples.

Uzbekistan holds great respect for the great Georgian poet Shota Rustaveli. One of Tashkent's central streets bears his name, and a monument to the outstanding classic of Georgian literature stands there. In turn, this year one of Tbilisi's central parks was named after Alisher Navoi.

In recent years, cultural and humanitarian cooperation between Uzbekistan and Georgia has seen new development. Days of Uzbek Culture and Cinema were successfully held in Tbilisi, while Days of Georgian Culture took place in Tashkent.

During the ceremony, confidence was expressed that the Alisher Navoi monument in Tbilisi will become another bright symbol of the strengthening bonds of friendship between the peoples of Uzbekistan and Georgia.
