The State Security Service (SSS) of Uzbekistan, in cooperation with Border Troops and Internal Affairs bodies, conducted a special operation in the Surkhandarya region, successfully thwarting a drug smuggling attempt.

Unidentified individuals from Afghanistan allegedly attempted to transfer narcotics across the Amu Darya River into Uzbekistan using an unmanned aerial vehicle (drone). The contraband was reportedly attached to the drone for delivery.

As a result of the operation, the illegal activity was uncovered, and 2 kilograms and 32 grams of opium, secured to the drone, were seized as material evidence.

A criminal case has been initiated, and investigative actions are underway. Law enforcement agencies are working to determine all circumstances of the incident and bring the perpetrators to justice.
