Social media circulated information that starting July 1, electronic versions of passports, ID cards, driver's licenses, and over 15 other documents would be officially recognized and could be presented via the MyGov app. This procedure was established by a Cabinet of Ministers resolution dated December 27, 2024.

The Road Safety Service (SBDD) issued an official clarification, stating that this procedure does not fully apply to checks conducted by traffic police officers on the roads.

According to the clarification, drivers operating a vehicle are required to present the original biometric passport or ID card upon request by a SBDD officer.

At the same time, in accordance with the Cabinet resolution, digital services for 17 types of documents have been introduced as of July 1, 2025. Accordingly, paper copies of these digital documents are not required in banks, notary offices, airports, railway facilities, and government agencies. SBDD emphasizes that this procedure fully applies in administrative service centers, as well as registration and examination units.

However, under Article 135 of the Code of Administrative Responsibility, while driving on the road, a driver must present an identity document — the original passport or ID card.

SBDD notes that if the driver has a passport or ID card, separate carrying of a driver's license, vehicle registration certificate, documents confirming ownership or use of the vehicle, insurance policy, and window tinting permit is not required.
