Law enforcement officers in Tashkent's Sergeli district have detained a man suspected of extorting money from an 18-year-old girl. The suspect allegedly threatened to publish her intimate photos and videos unless she paid him.

According to the Interior Ministry press service, the victim herself approached the police. She stated that she met the man on Instagram, where they developed a romantic relationship.

After some time, the man allegedly convinced her to send him intimate photos and videos. He later began threatening to distribute them and demanded $300 to keep them private.

Following the victim's complaint, police conducted an operation. The suspect was caught red-handed in Sergeli district while receiving $200.

A criminal case has been opened under Article 165, Part 1 (Extortion). The suspect faces up to five years of restricted freedom or imprisonment.

This is not the first such case: previously in Bukhara, a girl blackmailed her sister's boyfriend with intimate materials.
