First Deputy Minister of Energy Umid Mamadaminov announced in an interview with Uzbekistan 24 TV channel that the country's oil product reserves are sufficient for the next two to three months, following a presentation to President Shavkat Mirziyoyev.
According to him, the oil and gas sector is crucial for the country's energy security, necessitating advance planning for the autumn-winter season and accumulation of oil and oil product reserves.
"In the current geopolitical situation, we see threats to energy security in other countries. Therefore, it is very important not only to create reserves of oil products but also to develop production facilities," the deputy minister said.
Mamadaminov noted that domestic oil product production now exceeds 1.2 million tons, with private entrepreneurs importing an additional 600,000–700,000 tons. This covers all demand for oil products.
He stated that a separate plan for the autumn-winter season has been developed, sufficient reserves have been created, and domestic production exceeds 100,000 tons. "I assure you that our reserves are sufficient for the next two to three months," he said.
The Ministry of Energy has developed specific plans for autumn-winter preparation, including fuel supply and logistics. The energy minister holds weekly meetings on these issues.
Following the presentation, the president set clear tasks for uninterrupted supply of electricity, gas, and fuel to the population during the autumn-winter period. "We have precise calculations, the number of working brigades, and reserves," Mamadaminov added.
In the first five months, gasoline production increased by 2.9% to 502,200 tons. However, May output fell to 84,700 tons, down 13.7% year-on-year, the lowest since May 2023. Diesel fuel production in January-May reached 476,400 tons (up 7.9%), but dropped 17.8% in May.
