The Main Internal Affairs Department of Tashkent has released new details of a fatal traffic accident in the Yunusabad district. According to the department, a 17-year-old teenager was driving a Kia, having taken his father's car keys without permission at night, invited friends, and went for a drive around the city.
The teenager stated that he was driving at high speed and could not stop when a Lacetti entered the intersection. The collision killed two people in the Lacetti.
Three other people, including two children, sustained serious injuries and were hospitalized. The teenager admitted his guilt, apologized to the relatives of the deceased, his parents, and the country's residents, expressing deep regret.
The teenager's parents also expressed condolences to the family of the deceased and stated their readiness to bear responsibility within the framework of the law. Following the accident, a public discussion was organized with residents of the mahalla, and a meeting was held with teachers and students of the school where the teenagers studied.
A criminal case has been opened under Article 266 (Violation of traffic safety or vehicle operation rules resulting in human casualties), which carries a penalty of up to 10 years in prison.
Earlier, it was reported that minors were driving both vehicles in the fatal accident on Badamzar.
