In 2025, trade turnover between Uzbekistan and Switzerland grew by 84%, reaching nearly $600 million. Swiss companies increasingly view Uzbekistan as a promising and reliable partner.

"Switzerland knows Uzbekistan much better today. Companies see real opportunities here, watch competitors enter the market, and therefore increasingly consider the country as a promising destination for investment and business," the ambassador noted.

Uzbekistan's exports to Switzerland are primarily gold. Switzerland supplies machinery, pharmaceuticals, chemicals, and food products.

"Trade is the first and most natural stage of economic cooperation. Investments may follow. The growth in trade turnover is a good indicator," the diplomat emphasized.

Switzerland provides assistance to Uzbekistan in the form of grants, which does not increase the country's debt burden. Under a new three-year program, 18.3 million Swiss francs have been allocated for projects in Uzbekistan. Priorities include water resource management, energy efficiency, and employment.

In the Zarafshan basin, 50 meteorological stations were installed with Swiss support, helping farmers reduce water consumption by 20–30%.

"The project helps better manage water resources and adapt to climate change. Farmers receive accurate weather data," the ambassador said.

The second phase of the Vet4Uz project is underway, introducing elements of a dual education system in the hospitality sector.

"In Switzerland, two-thirds of young people choose internships over university after school. In Uzbekistan, in the first phase, we laid the foundation for a system oriented to the needs of the economy. Switzerland does not mechanically copy its model but helps Uzbekistan adapt what best suits local conditions," explained Obolensky.

The ambassador thanked for the warm reception and confirmed Switzerland's intention to continue supporting Uzbekistan's sustainable development.

"I wish health and well-being to Kun.uz viewers and readers. And please, don't forget about Switzerland," the diplomat concluded.
